What is happening to me????
I can not believe what an eating binge I've been on for the past few weeks. I am now up NINE pounds over my last "weight loss low"...so frustrating...and with a week-long music workshop (with lots of delicious food) and Thanksgiving (with MORE delicious food) coming soon, I am truly worried.
Also, I take Pravastatin to keep my cholesterol under control It is 180...but the doctor wants it at 170...so he's keeping me on the pills. Well, I've been having severe leg cramps for a LONG time. The doctor suggested I take calcium before bedtime to help. I also take a magnesium supplement at night and these do help, but I am up and down all night trying to get the leg cramps to go away. Recently, I had one so severe that I had to walk around for several minutes to get it go away...and then my leg was sore for several days after that.
My husband takes a much lower dosage of Pravastatin and he also has the same problem with leg cramps. He has a old friend who is a retired physician and they got to talking about the leg cramps. He researched it and sent us a big packet of info on taking statins and controlling cholesterol without medication. One of the side effects of taking statins is leg cramps and muscle weakness...so I have recently gone off my Pravastatin to see if this will help...only had leg cramps one night since then...and on that night, I forgot to take the magnesium supplement.
But, to keep my cholesterol under control, I have got to be very careful with my diet. I also need to increase my exercise program. This should also help me with my weight control. Even when I lose the nine pounds that I'm up, I still need to lose another 10 pounds at the minimum...15 pounds would be better.
I am working on creating a daily chart to check off...to keep up with what I eat and when and how long I exercise on a daily basis. It will help that my husband is also trying to do the same thing...so we can be a support for each other.

It's working...
After struggling for about three weeks now, I'm finally beginning to get some control (AGAIN) over my eating habits...mainly all the junk between meals. Knowing how hard it is to do this...makes me wonder what I'm thinking when I let myself go on an eating binge...and do it day after day...knowing fully well that I'm going to lose my self-control. Also, I'm down 2 pounds today. Three more pounds will put me back where I was when I lost the previous 15 pounds.

Struggling...
I've been struggling to get my eating back in control again. I read back over some of my posts...back to where I had lost 15 pounds. I am angry with myself...I have gained FIVE POUNDS since then. When I start eating a lot of sweets, then I start craving them...and that's when my will power gets "out of whack". We've been going to river a lot lately and someone keeps bringing these delicious desserts...and of course, I keep eating them.
I went to the doctor this week for my cholesterol check. It was down 7 points at 180...but my doctor wants it down to 170. I do try to watch what I eat, but my weakness is "sweets". I have been going to Curves once or twice a week for the past two months. I know I should be going at least 3 times a week...but it's on the other side of town and I just don't go unless I'm ON that side of town.
For the past two weeks or so, I've really been trying to cut back on snacking and sweets...but it seems like all I can think about is "something to eat"...whether I'm actually hungry or not. It's getting better, but this time it just seems like it's taking forever to get my "will power" back so I'm in control again.

Fighting the "hungries"...
What a struggle the past three days...all I can think about is "everything in the kitchen that's edible". I did exercise on Wednesday for about 10 minutes. I know that's not much...but compared to NO exercising...it's a lot! And then today, I went back to Curves...first time in 6 to 8 months...what is MY problem??? I can find every excuse in the world not to go. But I did go easy today at Curves...only went around 1 time and did NOT push it...so it very slowly...don't want that old back of mine to start hurting again...especially since I'm going to a "fun music workshop" all day long tomorrow with a two hour + drive to get there and that much again to come home. We leave at 5:30 am and won't be home until around 10 pm or so...sure makes for a long day. I'm hoping by Tuesday I'll be down at least a "wee bit"...it would be very encouraging.
For breakfast, I had a cup of coffee and a cinnamon and raisin English muffin with a small amount of FAT FREE strawberry Philadelphia cream cheese. For lunch, I had a large salad with ranch dressing (NOT fat free) and some Ritz crackers along with 6 oz of Sunkist orange drink (I know...not good...should have been water). Tonight, I'm planning on eating all veggies...but LOTS of them.

Almost a month...
Gosh, it's almost been a month since I posted to this blog. Time sure does fly when you're having fun...right??? Hmmm...I wonder... Oh, well....I've been traveling...visiting...making jewelry to sell...playing music...and apparently eating too much...and definitely not exercising.
Three weeks ago, I bent over and pulled something in my back...and let me tell you, it made me realize how something can happen in a "split second" that will certainly change your life. I'm still having good days and bad days....and some days I can hardly get around.
But today, I did some exercises to help strengthen my muscles and joints...and I think I actually feel better. I weighed and I'm four pounds UP...so I am committing myself (again) to getting back to my original plan of "eating healthy". My plan is to lose the four pounds I've added...plus another 10 pounds...for a total of 14 pounds.
Here's a recipe from today's newspaper that I plan to try...and the article by Tammy Kelly is entitled: "A vegetable based diet saves calories and cost".

Hanging in there...
I'm hanging in there...weight about the same...maybe a pound or so up and down. We're eating a lot of salads and tomato sandwiches...yum! Too hot for much cooking. I've got to get serious and "get back in the groove" with my dieting. I want to lose another ten pounds...that's my next goal!
